I was looking out at the stars again. I did that often. I was thinking of you.

We had entered the system stealithy, like a cat in the night, like when we used to embrace.

The star was glowing a bloated red, we knew the end couldnt be far off. We just thought to take some readings.

I had taken my leave of the bridge. I had wanted to see the star as we kept creeping closer. It was so beautiful. It pulsed and roiled, almost like a thing alive.

The ship kept getting closer, the science staff wanted more accurate readings. The end was near, you see.

And I came here, to the observation lounge, as the star was swelling in the viewport. So close! I almost thought I could reach out and touch it. To draw the StarStuff out, hold it, and watch it glitter in the night as it trickled out of my hands.

The ship's sensors were gathering data at an incredible rate. So much! So new!

I settled with putting my hand on the tri-glass. I was thinking of you. How far away you were. The fight we had just before I left. If only you were here. If only you could see the wonders of the galaxy as I have...

The star lurched and the science crew was estatic. Not long now. We brought the ship in so close, we were skimming the outer layer if the star's atmosphere. One last look before we burned out of the system.

And I sat here, watching the star, it's bulk filling the windows. I could almost feel it's heat as it glowed omniously. And I remembered our promises. But I kept staring at the star. I would be home soon. We could talk then.

Something went horribly wrong. We lost one of the engines. The enginerring crew went to work, frantically trying to get us back to full speed. So little time left!

And still I sat here. Waiting. I had turned off my communicator, you see? I wanted to be here, and think of you.

So little time! And they tried, and tried.

For a brief second, as the stars outer corona exploded outwards, I saw our folly. I saw my folly. Even as this piece of star rushed out to greet us at the speed of light, I knew a thousand things. I knew I wanted to be with you.

Then the fires of heaven were upon us.

I was looking out at the stars again. I did that often. I was thinking of you.

Now I do it for all eternity.
