I sent this to Joe Starkey, informing him of his (probably not very coveted) enshrinement:
----------------------
Mr. Starkey,
We of the Website Caliban and a Bryan Marchment fanpage therin, take exception to your reference to The Man as a 'thug' who 'shouldnt be playing' on 03/13/01. We respect your years of broadcasting experience, and we think your ability i unparalelled in the broadcasting industry, however your comments were a cheap shot at one of the greatest players in the NHL, and would only spur on the NHL in their irrational quest to persecute Marchment. Until such a time as you can show me the motion (Rule 71 - Kneeing. ...distinct movement of the knee.) we have added you to our Ledger of Hate.

14 or so hours later, I received this:
-----------------------
I HAVE THE PERFECT PLACE FOR THIS CHEAP SHOT ARTIST:
"SLAPSHOT 2" STARTS FILMING NEXT WEEK WITH THE HANSON
BROTHERS SET TO STAR AGAIN. LET'S PUT MARCHMENT IN THE
FILM WHERE HE ONLY HAS TO PRETEND HE'S RUINING
SOMEONE'S CAREER.
----------------------
[Editorial bit: I was going to respond to this, but it occurs to me that it would be pointless. The all caps gives the impression of a slavering, drooling maniac. In other words: a Fanatic. You can't argue with them. I will say though, that if The Man were to be trying to ruin people's careers I would think there'd be a pile of out of work hockey players.
I was also under the impression that if you were good enough to work at KGO you were probably good enough to address the issues. This is nothing more than a low effort brush off. Vaguely amusing, as I spent a good while trying to craft a civil letter. Well, I still like the rest of the KGO staff.
But I will offer this: Should you want to review the 'kneeing incident' I will drive to any location you like, and if you can prove to me that there was a 'distinct movement' I will retract my statement.
Oh, and thanks for the heads up about Slapshot 2.]
